8.  TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE

Problem: NO SOUND IS PRODUCED

1 - Check power lamp on power box of your SYNTHOPHONE.
2 - Check for power to all the rest of your equipment.
3 - Switch off and back on everything in your setup.
4 - If the MIDI - L.E.D. is mostly on while playing, then most likely the problem is NOT originating from the SYNTHOPHONE.
5 - If the MIDI - L.E.D. is never on while playing, the MIDI cable connecting the SYNTHOPHONE to its power supply is probably defective. Replace it with an other cable. Note that it has to be a 5-pole (fully wired) MIDI cable.
6 - Make sure all other cables are well connected and working.
7 - Replace each one selectively with a spare cable.
8 - Make sure, that the spiral cable of the neck is firmly plugged into its socket inside the upper opening of the SYNTHOPHONE body.
9 - Check that your synthesizer and Synthophone are set to the same MIDI channel.
10- Test your synthesizers with some other MIDI input (i.e. keyboard or sequencer).

Problem : LIP CONTROL ISN'T WORKING (properly)

1 - Play another sound - maybe your previous sound is just not sensitive to modulation or pitch bend data
2 - Do the panic function (while not applying any lip pressure) - to calibrate your reed then set for a high pitch bend level to check on the action of the reed again.
3 - Inspect your reed and the height of the metal tongue (s. 2.3). Correct it it necessary or exchange the reed with a new one from the box and then repeat steps above once more.

Problem: WIND CONTROL ISN'T WORKING (properly)

1 - Is MIDI volume (cntrl. 07) received by your synthesizer(s)? On some older units this parameter is not available at all. In certain cases, dynamics are played with breath data.
2 - See the respective user manual for more details.
3 - If the volume behaves somewhat irregularly, get rid of the water in the mouthpiece by shaking it out.

Problem: SOME OF THE KEYS ARE DEAD.

1 - Change to different sound programs. Maybe the sounds themselves are limited in range (split-sounds, sample-range etc.).
2 - You may accidentally have bent one of the key sensors inside the instrument.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ADJUST ANY OF THE KEY SENSORS BY YOURSELF.
